Can you tell who is who?

For the first time Little Miss is taking swimming lessons, and baby Huck has started swimming. Were you able to tell who is who is the three above pictures and one below? The first is Huck, the second is Leo at the same age. The third is Midge, and below is Little Miss at the same age. The great thing about our pool is that little kids can swim in the kiddie pool for free while their older siblings are taking lessons. As a result Leo and Little Miss were very comfortable in the water when they started lessons. We think the same will be the case for baby Huck.

Leo and Little Miss both ended up being the only ones in the class so they have private lessons.

On the last day of lessons the kids get to play in the pool, go down the water slide. We also treat them to ice cream.

Swim Meet

Midge had her swim meet last night. She did great.

Ken got recruited to be a timer and was able to time for her lane.

She earned 3 1st place finishes in the 25 backstroke, 50 freestyle, and 50 backstroke

Little Miss was fascinated with the hot tub. She just laid on the steps and would dip her fingers in. I'm sure this old man was thrilled.

At the end of the meet Midge jumped off the diving board with the rest of the team.

She amazed all of us by going off the high dive.

Huck has had quite the week. He just recently mastered crawling and now he has been pulling himself up on the furniture. This is usually the view we see of our little guy now. He is only 8 1/2 months and we are trying to get him to slow down in his growth, but he wants to be able to catch up with his siblings. Yesterday I watched as he pulled himself up on the edge of a toy and then he let go and stood by himself for 5 seconds. Yesterday at nap time I heard him crying and when I went in he had pulled himself up and was hanging on to the side of the crib. He couldn't figure out how to get back down and go to sleep. It looks like he is going to keep the Woodward baby tradition going that he will be walking before he turns one, the question is if he will be walking before Christmas.

Haircut

I gave baby Huck a haircut and now Ken says he looks like a certain someone...

Trick or Treat

Our cute little treats had so much fun at the Halloween party at our church.

Midge was a pirate. Everyone thought the parrot on her shoulder was real.

When Leo went to school on the Halloween Celebration day he told Midge he was going to tell his friends that he was a touché man. Midge told him he couldn't tell everyone that. She said that he needed to say he was a musketeer. When he got home from school she asked him if he had correctly told everyone what his costume was. He proudly looked at her and replied, "Yep I told everyone I was a mouseketeer." When Little Miss saw Leo in his costume she told him, "You look so handsome will you marry me?" He rolled his eyes and sighed and said, "Yes I guess so."

Little Miss was Cinderella. She had a necklace that when she pressed it said, "Hello my name is Cinderella." She would play it at every car we went to.

Baby Huck was a penguin. The kids said that it was appropriate because like a penguin that regurgitates its food baby Huck is consistently spitting up. So whenever he spit up they would yell out, "Look he is regurgitating." He was barely able to fit into the costume another week and we wouldn't have been able to squeeze him in.

Today we carved the pumpkins. Huck got a baby pumpkin with a new tooth to match his first tooth. Little Miss got Snoopy, Leo wanted a spider, Midge drew Calvin and a happy face on her homegrown pumpkin.

Ken's Birthday

This past week was Ken's birthday. I had to attend a conference for work in Portland so I missed his big day. Instead we decided to celebrate before I left. My mom and Huck were able to go to the conference with me. We stayed an extra day and had a lot of fun playing around Portland.

Ken loves bananas so I decided to invent a banana split cupcake. I used this recipe, and then played around with the toppings. The kids had fun helping me.

For his birthday Midge used her artistic skills and drew portraits of the family. She has turned in to quite the artist. She gave Ken all of her favorite drawings.

Leo made Ken a card where he made hearts and he wrote all of the things

he loved about his dad.

Halloween Party

This year Midge said that she wanted to throw a Halloween Party. I do a birthday party per kid per year. Throwing extra parties is simply too much work. Yet Midge was insistent she wanted to do all of the work. To be honest I kind of thought she would forget about it. To my surprise she did it all. Each weekend for several weeks in advance she made decorations and planned out the activities.

She had the guests do a scavenger hunt.

She also had the students do a matching game and she gave out prizes.

Leo and Midge did the decorations and worked really hard.

They filled the driveway with Halloween messages.

For a treat she had the kids make Oreo spider cookies.

After the party was over she told us the whole thing was a lot of work, but we were so impressed with what a great job she did.
