Joseph

This past week has been a busy one for us. Midge was able to perform in a local production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She had so much fun learning the music and learning about theater.

She was able to do 4 performances. Two at the Wildish Theater in Springfield and two on the stage at Upstart Crow Theaters in Eugene. There were about 40 kids in the cast and she had a lot of fun working with the older teenagers. She has told me she wants to do one of the bigger parts next time. I felt like this was just about perfect because she was able to get a taste for everything, but not get overwhelmed.

She was able to check out the theater before the first night's performance. She was so nervous I could hardly get her to eat.

She was so excited to get to wear makeup.

Midge was cast as a school child. The narrator told the story of Joseph to the school children from the bible. There were 7 other school children in the play ranging in age from 5 - 11.

For those of you who are not familiar with the musical the entire production is sung. Andrew Lloyd Weber wrote it in college as an assignment where he had to incorporate as much varied music in one play as possible. Part of the fun is listening to the widely different music that is part of the play.

The girl in the center of the below picture was the narrator. She has an amazing voice and had a very difficult part to learn. The entire cast learned the play in 3 weeks.

This young man played the Pharaoh. The pharaoh's part is very funny in the play. He is "The King" and sings his role as if he is Elvis.

On Friday night's performance the family, Uncle Patch and Papa Steve were able to come down and watch.

Afterwards we went and celebrated at Sweet Life.

This song is called One More Angel in Heaven. It is when the brother's tell their father that Joseph is dead. It is one of my favorites in the play.

This is towards the end of the play and is fun. The brothers are trying to convince Joseph that Benjamin is innocent.

Saturday

Our days have been so full with activities I feel like I am posting nearly every day. On last Friday night we had the Father Son camp out for the ward. It was at "Cunningham Park". The Cunninghams had their grandchildren in town and Diane thought their granddaughter might get bored if she wasn't allowed to go out with the boys so she invited a group of girls over for a girls "camp in".

The boys had to stay out in the field or the river.

Baby Huck was the only boy allowed to attend the girl's party. Here he is with Diane.

Little Miss loved Diane's dog.

We painted toes.

Ate a whole lot of healthy food.

Played games.

Dressed up and had a fashion show.

Put on makeup.

Took fancy pictures.

Tried to keep up with Elease Hunter in gymnastics.

Sang karaoke.

We stayed up until 11:00. The kids were exhausted when we got home and went right to bed. Leo and Ken got home in the morning and it was clear the Leo was exhausted. We convinced him to take a nap (with gentle enforcement). He woke up 3 hours later like a new man.

The big news of the day is baby Huck rolled over. I came around the corner and found him like this. He seemed quite confused as to how he got there.

In the afternoon after Leo woke up I took the kids to a neighborhood carnival. They had a blast playing on the inflatables.

The kids could earn tokens playing games and then cash them in for prizes. The best part everything was free.

They also had a climbing wall.

Leo did pretty good. We found out later this was the hardest way up.

I even had to get in on the action. It was really fun. Now we just need to install one in the backyard.
