Easter Photos

Two weeks ago we put the kids in their Easter outfits. I had meant to get photos of them after church, but we walked in the door and by the time I carried in our church bags the kids had already taken off their clothes. Once the clothes are off it is impossible to get them to put them back on. This week we had a few extra minutes before church. I don't know how it happened because Ken was at meetings before church so I had to get 4 kids any myself ready for 9:00 church. I had the kids race into the sun room and we got some great shots of them in their Easter outfit. I only had to do a little bribery of marshmallows for Little Miss.

Easter and Exciting News

Our son's Battle of the Book team had a competition between all of the kindergarten teams at his school and they won! The students had to read 5 books and try to learn the titles and authors. Leo was placed in a team in his class and they first had a competition with his class. His team won and moved on to the next round. Today they went into the cafeteria and in front of the entire kindergarten they had 15 questions. If they knew the book they buzzed in their answer. They got an additional point if they knew the author. Leo's team did a great job. Next week they will compete against all of the kindergarten teams in the district.

On Easter morning we were at Mimi and Papa's house. Papa had to give Little Miss a lift to get the high ones.

There was a lot of reading books. Over and over again.

On Saturday afternoon we had Leo's soccer jamboree.

He played really well and scored a goal for his team.

Midge was so cute. She would run over to the sidelines and help Leo cheer on his team.

My favorite part is at the end when the parents make a bridge for them to run under. Ken is in the grey jacket, Midge is across from him, and Leo is running by in the shorts.

Saturday morning we were able to go and see the newborn chicks at the farm store.

The chicks were only 3 days old.

Right before the chicks we went to our favorite Easter Egg Hunt at Gray's Garden Center. Usually this is a great hunt. They hide eggs all over the landscaping plants and the kids have a great time finding them. This year they did it differently because it was raining. They hid the eggs under the covered area and had everyone go in to the building. Instead of bringing out all of the children and letting everyone start at the same time they opened to small doors and yelled go. Since we were at the back of the line by the time our kids got out the doors all of the kids from the front of the lines had already gotten the eggs. You have a small number of kids who had 20 eggs and a ton of kids walking around with none.

A sweet little girl came up and shared her eggs with Little Miss, Midge was able to find 3 eggs, and the kids shared with each other. I thought it was a sweet lesson is sharing and being grateful for what you have, but the kids were a little disappointed.

Memories

I haven't really done a lot with my hair lately. Today I actually took about 15 seconds and put it in a pony tail. As soon as Little Miss saw it she wanted one too. This isn't the best picture of it, but I had to work fast because my camera battery was about to die.
It has been interesting for me to have a girl, boy, and then another girl, boy that are spaced about the same ages apart. I keep having flashbacks to Midge and Leo when I look at Little Miss and baby boy. I will see them do something with one another and I will have an instant memory to my first two. It is strange how that time seems so long ago and yet so recent at the same time. My only hope is that Little Miss and baby boy will be as close as Midge and Leo. Granted Midge and Leo have their moments where I think they are going to kill each other, but they also have a great relationship. They love to play with each other and are so loyal in defending in each other. Leo was thrilled when Midge wanted to share a room with him with the arrival of the baby. He adores his older sister. Midge has her moments when she wants space, but she also does a lot for Leo. I love listening at their door when we put them to bed for the night and they will talk and laugh with each other. Little Miss is starting to show the same caring for baby boy that Midge showed for Leo. She gets so concerned when he cries and she loves to hold him and play with him.

It is so funny to see Midge and Leo at the same age. Midge had such long hair.

The other night Little Miss was making faces at the table and had all of us laughing. Look who she gets it from!

We Ain't Foolin You

8 year olds are so funny. Last night at 7:55 (her bedtime is 8:00) Midge decided that she wanted to do an April Fool's Joke for her teacher. She got online and found this craft on Family Fun. I love that website. I told her that if she wanted to do this she would have to do it and clean up everything by herself. She was totally excited and she made it and did a great job. It wasn't dry this morning so I had to bring it to her at lunch time when I went to get Leo. After lunch she put it on her desk and then told her teacher that she had spilled her hot chocolate. Her teacher started getting a little upset because they aren't supposed to have food or drinks in the classroom, but then Midge yelled out April Fool's.

Midge also came up with her own April Fool's joke. She put a card from a game and put it in an envelope than she came up and said, "Here's a card for you." I thought it was pretty clever. Ken even got in on the action when he woke the kids up this morning and told them that school was canceled because it had snowed during the night. He felt a little guilty when Leo sprang out of bed and ran to the window to see with a big grin on his face.

Our little guy is already changing. He is outgrowing most of his newborn clothes and we are seeing a lot more of his blue eyes (Midge really wants him to have brown, but I don't think it is going to happen.) As you can see in the picture he is wide awake. He isn't a great napper during the day, mostly because he still falls asleep as soon as he starts nursing and then wakes up within 15 minutes when you set him down. He is a great sleeper at night though so it is hard to complain. I am having to pump or supplement to get him a full belly of milk during the day with a bottle so he will sleep longer.
