Woodward Happenings

This past week Grandma Susan came to visit us. She came because she wanted help getting her first digital camera. She ended up getting the updated version of the one we currently have. The new feature is the ability to take panoramic photos. We had fun playing around with this feature as you can see in the below 3 photos.

We love raspberries and purchased a lot of them.

We had fun doing alien fingers.

Making homemade raspberry ice cream.

And eating a ton of them before we had to freeze the rest.

It has been really hot around here so we have been looking for ways to cool down.

Little Miss couldn't use the water guns so she tried to defend herself with a kick board.

I went garage sale shopping and found this Cinderella costume for Little Miss. She loves it and refuses to take it off.

I also got a ton of legos for $3

Leo loves them and has grown up to the smaller legos. He has given his duplo blocks to Little Miss and gets furious if she goes anywhere near his new ones.

Here is one of the things we built.

The people are hilarious. They look like skater dudes.

They also have biker guys, and each person comes with a helmet.

This guy has roller blades. Seriously they never had stuff like this when I was a kid.

Fourth of July Festivities

For the fourth of July weekend we went to my parent's house. My mom bought this dress for Little Miss and I swear she lives in it. Midge now wants one, so keep your eyes peeled mom.

My parents have this goofy tree, we call it the tea pot tree because it looks like a tea pot from a distance. Dad hooked up a tire swing to it for us to play on. Ken, Leo and Midge like to try and run up it.

We bought some fireworks and had a little show. As the first ones went off Little Miss was terrified and ran back to my mom to sit in her lap. Then before the grand finale Little Miss decided she was too tired and requested to go to bed.

Midge and Leo were able to go with my parents and Uncle Patch to see Lion King. Here is a picture of the group before they left. They had a great time and at the end Midge told my mom, "This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be". They then went to the Burger King that has the biggest indoor playarea in Portland. The kids had a great time.

On the fourth of July we wanted to see some fireworks, but didn't want to pay to see any. We ended up in a parking lot across for BK Park and got a great 20 minute show. The kids thought it was a blast to set up beds in the back of the van and watch the show.

We ended up waking Baby Huck, but he really liked watching his first show with dad.

Happy Fourth of July

Mop my floors or hang out with my baby

It is summer time and my floors need to be mopped so badly. The thing is I know that as soon as I mop them someone will spill juice on them or track dirt from outside on to them. Therefore I just don't really have the motivation to do them. Then of course just as I was finally going to mop them this little guy woke up. So do I mop floors or play with my baby boy. I bet you can tell from these pictures what I decided to do. The fact is that my sticky dirty floors will still be there tomorrow, but this little guy seems to grow bigger each day.

Ken thought his eyes might turn brown. I don't think so daddy, they're going to be blue just like mommy's.

He has got this finger sucking down, plus it is a good signal that he is starting to get tired. I have never had a finger sucker and I think it is pretty adorable.

The entire time we were taking photos he kept trying to do this with his tongue. Maybe some teeth are working their way in?

I love these below pictures. I took them holding the camera off to the side and just playing around. Often I know we can be critical of ourselves in pictures, but I know that I need to take some of myself playing with my kids. The fact is that it is moments like the ones below that I love the most at this age. Kissing soft skin, making him laugh, having his eyes light up when they focus on my face. There is a wonder that happens between a mom and a baby. This child is half me. The dependency of a child on a mother is overwhelming and awe inspiring all at once. For this period of time you literally are the world to this child.

My husband is such a good sport. He doesn't even roll his eyes anymore when I tell him that I want some pictures with him in them. His reply today, "Now what do you want me to do?". My reply, "Just play with him and make him laugh." Always easy for daddy to do.

I got baby Huck's 4 month information from his doctor's visit.

Huck Length 25 1/2 in. Weight 16 lb. 4 oz.

Midge Length 25 3/4 in. Weight 13 lb. 10 oz.

Leo Length 26 3/4 in. Weight 19 lb. 12 oz.

Little Miss Length 26 1/2 in. Weight 15 lb. 14 oz.
