When it comes to little girl's birthday parties I wish you could just sprinkle a little pixie dust
and make everything instantly magical. In order to surprise our little one I needed a lot more
help than just pixie dust. Luckily I have the support of a great mom, a loving husband,
and a great group of friends to help me out. I knew that I needed to do something a little more
big for our Little Miss's birthday party. The reality is she has never had a party. I know I am terrible. Her older sister had already had 4 parties by her age with friends. For this reason she was the first person in our family to get a surprise birthday party.
She started the day with breakfast in bed. Her request was strawberry crepes.
She then got a surprise when her Mimi came down to take her out to lunch. Mimi took all
4 kiddos out to lunch and as soon as the door shut Ken and I got to work transforming the
house into a fairy wonderland.
Of course we needed oversize objects to make the girls feel like they were shrunken fairies.
My mom made each girl her own wreath crown.
The biggest hit were the magical vials of pixie dust the girls got to go home with again that my mom made. To say that they loved them in an understatement. Little Miss wore hers to bed.
Of course the girls needed a creative place to create their masterpieces. I was lucky to have friends that loaned me so many amazing things to pull this party off. One of my friends had just had a wedding and used the flags. I was so grateful she let me borrow them and I didn't have to make all of them.
Her cake this year was simple cupcakes. Fun and easy.
Here's all the sweet little fairies patiently waiting for Little Miss to arrive. Even Midge didn't know about the party. Midge and Leo were the first to walk in and Ken quickly grabbed them and pulled them out of the way. Little Miss was so surprised to see the house decorated and then her friends jumped out and surprised her even more. She was so delighted to see everyone waiting there for her.

And of course the party girl herself. Once she arrived we had the girls make their own
fairies out of pipe cleaners and flowers.
This is what one of them looked like. Although we didn't wrap all of them. I got the idea here.
Then we took the girls outside to create a little house for their fairies to live in.
We started with a simple pot with a plant in it.
Then we gave them a cardboard container strawberries come in and some moss to cover it with.
At this point we would give the girls a new object and let them decorate any way they wanted. I had been collecting little things that looked magical and something a fairy would use.
The magic was in seeing the girls create. We would give them little objects and just
turned them loose and they loved building their individual houses.
Even Midge got in on it by creating her own fairy house in one of my hanging pots.
Huck just liked playing with the magical rocks.
Add the fairies and the houses are almost done.
The finishing touch was adding the magic pixie dust to make it come to life.
Every single house was completely unique.
This little girl kept telling us her altoid box was her fairies suitcase. It was a fun project to send the girls home with because the plant will grow and they can add to it and play with it.
We then went in for cake and ice cream.

Another good friend loaned me her milk dishes so the girls could drink their
lemonade with real dishes. The girls were so careful with them.
We then opened gifts and our little girl was so excited and thankful for everything she received. Midge was so sweet with Little Miss she hand made her several gifts and was so excited to give them to her. Then after the party the two girls played for hours.
Happy birthday baby girl. We love your sweet smile, happy personality and the love you bring into our home on a daily basis. You are always kind, singing and skipping through life and I hope you always remain a positive force for everyone around you.
