Boating Trip

This past weekend our friends the Tappanas invited us onto their boat for a day in Cottage Grove. It was the first time our kids had ever been on a boat. Af first they were a little nervous (of course it didn't help that Midge kept telling Leo there were sharks in the water). We had to bribe the kids to get in the boat, but they came back screaming about how much fun they had.

For the first trip Jamie and I stayed with the younger kids. There was a nice grassy area with big trees and a lot of shade. There was also a roped off swimming area.

The water looked disgustingly brown in the shallow water, but the kids didn't care and loved swimming in it.

Even baby Huck had a great time and got into his swim trunks.

When the boating crew came back they were starving so we gave them watermelon.

Little Miss kept wanting to go out swimming with the big kids. She has no fear.

On the second boat trip Little Miss wanted to go too. She loved it. I thought her the speed of the boat might frighten her but she was laughing the whole time.

Little Miss even went swimming with me. At one point she was on the boat and I was diving into the water. She screamed at me, "Mom you are not Ariel get back in the boat."

Midge and I decided to go out for a tube ride.

At this point Paul hit some big waves and Midge and I were flying around.

The weather was perfect with clear blue skies and while it was warm we were cooled off with the water.

At this point I was trying to get Midge to stand up with me.

Woodward Happenings

This past week Grandma Susan came to visit us. She came because she wanted help getting her first digital camera. She ended up getting the updated version of the one we currently have. The new feature is the ability to take panoramic photos. We had fun playing around with this feature as you can see in the below 3 photos.

We love raspberries and purchased a lot of them.

We had fun doing alien fingers.

Making homemade raspberry ice cream.

And eating a ton of them before we had to freeze the rest.

It has been really hot around here so we have been looking for ways to cool down.

Little Miss couldn't use the water guns so she tried to defend herself with a kick board.

I went garage sale shopping and found this Cinderella costume for Little Miss. She loves it and refuses to take it off.

I also got a ton of legos for $3

Leo loves them and has grown up to the smaller legos. He has given his duplo blocks to Little Miss and gets furious if she goes anywhere near his new ones.

Here is one of the things we built.

The people are hilarious. They look like skater dudes.

They also have biker guys, and each person comes with a helmet.

This guy has roller blades. Seriously they never had stuff like this when I was a kid.

Fourth of July Festivities

For the fourth of July weekend we went to my parent's house. My mom bought this dress for Little Miss and I swear she lives in it. Midge now wants one, so keep your eyes peeled mom.

My parents have this goofy tree, we call it the tea pot tree because it looks like a tea pot from a distance. Dad hooked up a tire swing to it for us to play on. Ken, Leo and Midge like to try and run up it.

We bought some fireworks and had a little show. As the first ones went off Little Miss was terrified and ran back to my mom to sit in her lap. Then before the grand finale Little Miss decided she was too tired and requested to go to bed.

Midge and Leo were able to go with my parents and Uncle Patch to see Lion King. Here is a picture of the group before they left. They had a great time and at the end Midge told my mom, "This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be". They then went to the Burger King that has the biggest indoor playarea in Portland. The kids had a great time.

On the fourth of July we wanted to see some fireworks, but didn't want to pay to see any. We ended up in a parking lot across for BK Park and got a great 20 minute show. The kids thought it was a blast to set up beds in the back of the van and watch the show.

We ended up waking Baby Huck, but he really liked watching his first show with dad.
